Alexandria Public Schools Community Education offers a wide variety of youth and adult programs throughout the year. Community Education is looking for creative, energetic, and personable people who have a passion for families and have outstanding customer service skills to join our dynamic team.
Cardinal Care is a preschool wrap around program, providing care on non-school days for 4 year olds in the Early Education Center.
Essential Functions:
- Provide appropriate leadership and guidance to participants and the classroom team, modeling positive behaviors and professional conduct.
- Create and maintain a warm, caring, and safe atmosphere that promotes a sense of belonging and well-being for participants, families, and colleagues.
- Plan, organize, and implement engaging daily activities that are aligned with program goals and educational objectives, ensuring a stimulating learning environment.
- Design and deliver individualized and group behavioral support for students, proactively addressing challenges and promoting positive social-emotional growth.
- Guide students in developing essential social skills and work to eliminate or reduce negative or disruptive behaviors through consistent application of positive behavior strategies.
- Maintain open and consistent communication with parents/guardians through daily drop-off and pick-up interactions, scheduled parent meetings, and other appropriate channels, ensuring they are informed of their child's progress and any relevant classroom updates.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment for all participants.
- Actively participate in all staff meetings, contributing to discussions and staying informed about program updates and initiatives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to your classroom and its participants.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on participant attendance, progress, incidents, and other required documentation.
- Ensure the classroom is organized, clean, and well-maintained, with all materials readily accessible and in good condition.
- Adhere to all program policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times.
- Complete all required training and professional development to continuously enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Must have previous experience working with preschool students.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Be a self starter and perform job with little supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Minimum 18 years old
- Preferred post secondary education
Compensation: $21.70 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
