What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute staff for Daycare / Child Care Centers position at Early Childhood Substitute Solution?
Overview
The substitute provides backup teaching services for a variety of child care centers in Monmouth County. The children in the participating centers can range from 6 weeks to 12 years. The substitute monitors, observes, and reports behaviors. The substitute follows all child care centers policies and procedures as well as state regulations, quality requirements, and standards. The system in which a substitute maintains their employment is fully automated, and substitutes will be notified via app alerts when an assignment opens up.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met and maintained in the classroom you are in.
- Supervise and engage children in educational and recreational activities to promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
- Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive environment.
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds, sit on the floor for interaction with children, be active on the playground, and be outside in hot and cold temperatures.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
Skills
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development
- Ability to work effectively with children of varying ages and needs, including preschoolers and students requiring special education support
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with children, center team members
- Demonstrated ability to manage behavior positively while maintaining a nurturing environment
