Responsibilities
- Receive, identify, and inspect returned parts/materials to determine repairability using drawings, revisions, and product knowledge.
- Clean, prepare, and verify components meet specifications using measuring instruments and departmental procedures.
- Perform repairs and assembly of seals with limited supervision, ensuring replaced/reconditioned parts match BOMs and drawings.
- Operate basic shop equipment such as drill press, tool post grinder, bead blaster, and lapping machines, including setup and troubleshooting.
- Structure repair parts, check cost and pricing, and prepare repair estimates; may initiate purchase orders involving vendors.
- Maintain records, small inventory of repair parts, and follow work orders, prints, and verbal instructions.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Sales, and occasionally customers regarding repairs, pricing, and service-related questions.
- Assist newer personnel, maintain a clean work environment, and perform additional assigned duties.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years of mechanical seal equipment experience/or comparable experience within the refining, petrochemical, chemical, power, or upstream markets working on or maintaining equipment and 6 months to 1-year on-the-job training.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to understand and complete instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
