What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Quality position at Eagle Wireless?
About Eagle Wireless
Eagle Wireless is a connectivity company delivering secure, reliable, and scalable cellular modules and solutions for automotive and IoT applications. With manufacturing operations in the United States and Malaysia, and R&D teams across North America, Europe, and APAC, Eagle Wireless supports customers worldwide with long-life, compliant, and cyber-secure connectivity products. Our portfolio spans automotive telematics modules (designed to IATF 16949 and AEC-Q grade standards) and industrial IoT modules across LTE-M, NB-IoT, and 5G technologies. Focused on supply chain resilience, regulatory compliance, and customer trust, Eagle Wireless helps OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and IoT innovators deploy connected technologies with confidence in an increasingly complex global environment. Eagle Wireless is currently expanding its manufacturing footprint with a new factory under construction in Solon, Ohio — adding to its existing manufacturing operations in Solon, OH and Penang, Malaysia — with initial production targeted for 2027.
Role Overview
The Head of Quality is a senior executive role reporting directly to the CTO and serving as the quality authority across Eagle Wireless globally. You will own the Quality Management System, lead all quality functions — supplier quality, product quality, manufacturing quality, and customer quality — and represent Eagle Wireless to tier-one automotive OEMs and IoT customers on all quality matters. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-scaling, engineering-driven company: you will be expected to set strategy, build and develop a global quality team, and roll up your sleeves to solve hard problems alongside R&D, manufacturing, and commercial teams. The ideal candidate brings deep automotive quality credentials, experience with electronics or connectivity hardware, and the credibility to operate confidently with demanding OEM customers. This position is based in the Cleveland, OH area (Solon) or Minneapolis, MN area. In addition to Eagle’s existing manufacturing operations in Solon and Penang, Malaysia, a new Eagle-owned factory is currently under construction in Solon — giving this role a rare opportunity to establish quality systems in a greenfield facility from the ground up.
Main Responsibilities
Quality Management System
• Own and continuously improve the global Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and all customer-specific requirements (CSRs).
• Drive QMS implementation and certification across all Eagle Wireless locations, including manufacturing facilities in the United States and Malaysia.
• Establish and maintain a robust document control, internal audit, and management review framework.
• Ensure ASPICE, ISO 26262, and relevant functional safety standards are addressed for applicable automotive programs.
Quality Strategy & Governance
• Define and execute the global Quality Strategy aligned with company goals, automotive OEM requirements, and IoT/telematics regulatory requirements.
• Manage quality KPIs, customer scorecards, and quality dashboards; report performance to executive leadership.
• Lead escalation processes, customer concern resolution, and systemic corrective action programs (8D, FMEA, PPAP, APQP).
• Represent Eagle Wireless in front of tier-one OEM customers and IoT partners on all quality-related topics.
Supplier Quality
• Lead global supplier quality activities including supplier selection, qualification, PPAP approval, and ongoing performance monitoring.
• Conduct supplier audits (VDA 6.3, IATF) and implement development programs for strategic suppliers.
• Manage supplier scorecards and drive corrective actions across the supply base.
Product & Manufacturing Quality
• Oversee product quality activities through the full product lifecycle from NPI (APQP/PPAP) through production and end-of-life.
• Collaborate closely with R&D and engineering teams to integrate quality and reliability requirements into product development (DFQ, DFMEA).
• Lead manufacturing quality activities at Eagle’s US and Malaysia facilities, ensuring process controls, SPC, and yield performance targets are met.
• Drive reliability and failure analysis processes in support of customer warranty and field quality issues.
Team Leadership
• Build, mentor, and develop a global Quality team spanning supplier quality, product quality, manufacturing quality, and QMS functions.
• Foster a culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement across the entire organization.
• Partner with R&D, manufacturing, sales, and program management to ensure quality is embedded in every phase of the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
• 10 years of progressive quality leadership experience, including senior Quality Director or Head of Quality roles in the automotive or automotive electronics industry.
• Hands-on expertise with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, VDA 6.3, and automotive OEM customer-specific quality requirements.
• Demonstrated experience managing QMS implementation, certification, and surveillance audits.
• Experience with electronics, semiconductor, connectivity, or telecommunication module products (RF modules, modems, embedded systems, or similar hardware).
• Track record of leading supplier quality programs across complex, multi-tier global supply chains.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills (8D, RCA, Six Sigma or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing global quality teams in a matrixed organization.
• Excellent communication and executive presence; proven ability to represent a company directly with tier-one OEM customers.
• Fluent English; proficiency in German or another major European language is a strong plus.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Cleveland, OH (Solon) or Minneapolis, MN area.
Preferred Qualifications
• Lead Auditor certification for IATF 16949 or ISO 9001.
• Familiarity with AEC-Q100/Q200 qualification standards for automotive-grade electronic components.
• Experience with cellular or wireless connectivity standards (LTE, LTE-M, NB-IoT, 5G) and carrier certification/PTCRB processes.
• Exposure to functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508) or cybersecurity standards (ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29).
• Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent structured quality improvement certification.
• Experience working in a dual automotive/IoT product environment.
• Background in SMT or electronics contract manufacturing quality oversight.
• Prior experience with FCC, CE, or PTCRB regulatory compliance as it intersects with product quality
