The ideal candidate brings strong PLC troubleshooting experience, broad mechanical and electrical expertise, and the leadership skills to build a safe, responsive, and accountable maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, train, and support maintenance technicians while setting clear standards for safety, reliability, workmanship, and response time.
  • Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime and keep production equipment operating reliably.
  • Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled equipment, including ladder logic, panel views, PID controls, VFDs, encoders, servo motors, drives, sensors, and industrial control panels.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on extruders, rackers, turntables, automated packaging equipment, depalletizers, conveyors, and related machinery.
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot FANUC robots used for material handling and palletizing; rehome robots, touch up points, verify path motion, and follow teach-pendant and reset procedures.
  • Develop and issue maintenance schedules, prioritize work, document repairs, and maintain accurate equipment and parts records.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on recurring failures and implement practical improvements that increase uptime, safety, and equipment life.
  • Manage spare-parts needs, obtain vendor bids and quotes, coordinate outside service providers, and recommend equipment upgrades.
  • Partner with Production and the Plant Manager on shutdown planning, emergency repairs, staffing, and maintenance priorities.
  • Enforce company policies, machine-specific safety requirements, personal protective equipment standards, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive industrial manufacturing maintenance experience, including several years in a supervisory or management role; 10 years of maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated reliability, sound judgment, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to urgent equipment failures.
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of ladder logic, HMIs, PID controls, VFDs, encoders, industrial networks, and electrical control systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, PLC logic, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Hands-on experience with automated production machinery; FANUC robotics experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, vendor-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use measuring tools accurately, including tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and consistent enforcement of lockout/tagout procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in tile, building-products, or other continuous industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience with spare-parts inventory and maintenance performance tracking.
  • Technical degree, skilled-trades credential, electrical certification, or comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supporting equipment upgrades, controls improvements, and capital projects.

Physical and Safety Requirements

  • Ability to work safely around loud, heavy, automated machinery in a dusty, non-climate-controlled industrial facility.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and to bend, kneel, twist, climb, and use tools as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry 35–50 pounds regularly and heavier items with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.
  • Ability to hear production alarms and vehicle warning signals and visually identify damaged or worn components.
  • Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.

Schedule and Work Environment

  • Full-time, on-site leadership position in an active manufacturing plant.
  • Must be available for emergency on-call support, including occasional nights or weekends.
  • Overtime, alternate shifts, and six- or seven-day workweeks may be required based on production and maintenance needs.
