What are the responsibilities and job description for the Household Manager/Personal Assistant position at House Manager?
Flexible Part-Time Household Manager
Location: Gainesville, FL (Oakmont Neighborhood)
Schedule: Mon–Fri | ~20 hours/week
Morning Drop-off Time: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM (This part is fixed)
Flexibility: Very high flexibility outside of the morning school drop-off. Once our daughter is at daycare, your hours can vary daily (for example, working 2 hours one day and 5 hours another) based on your preference, as long as all household tasks and weekly goals are taken care of.
About Us: We are a busy dual-income family working from home in the technology sector, newly relocating to the Oakmont community to be closer to family and grandparents who live locally in Gainesville. We are looking for a warm, highly organized, and self-directed Household Manager to keep our home running smoothly so that we can focus entirely on our family when our workday ends.
The Role: This is an active, task-oriented role. You will completely run the daily operations of our home, including meal planning, cooking, organizational projects, everyday errands, and morning daycare drop-off for our 2.5-year-old daughter. (Note: We also have an infant daughter who has her own dedicated full-time nanny; this position does not require infant childcare. We also have a professional cleaning team that comes bi-weekly for heavy cleaning.)
Your Responsibilities Include:
1. Morning Routine & Daycare Drop-off (Fixed Window: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM)
- Morning Routine: Help our 2.5-year-old smoothly transition through her morning routine (getting dressed, putting shoes on, brushing teeth). Ensure her backpack and water bottle are ready to go. (Note: You do not need to pack school lunch or snacks, as meals are provided).
- Daycare Drop-off: Drive her to her daycare in the Town of Tioga (KidWorks) for an arrival before 9 AM. You will use our family vehicle for this drive which is equipped with the correct car seat. It is a very short and easy ~7-minute drive from our home.
2. Cooking, Home Projects & Running the House (Highly Flexible Windows)
- Dinner & Meal Planning: Come up with simple, healthy weekly meal ideas and run them by us, then handle everything else (grocery shopping, prepping, and cooking). We love simple recipes, slow-cooker meals, or dishes we can easily pop in the oven.
- Keeping Track of Supplies: Keep an eye on our daily household essentials. If you see that we are running low on things like diapers, wipes, baby supplies, pantry staples, or cleaning goods, you will proactively order them online or pick them up while shopping in real life (using the family credit card), accept any deliveries, and put them away.
- Home Service Coordinator: Help us keep track of and schedule our other home services. You will be the main point of contact to coordinate with our bi-weekly house cleaners, pest control, or any scheduled maintenance technicians when they come to the house.
- Organization & Wardrobe Management: Keep the house looking neat and tidy. Periodically go through our toddler’s clothes to put away things she has outgrown. Keep both the adults' and kids' closets and toy areas highly organized, and set up a simple toy-rotation system to keep things fresh and clutter-free.
- Grocery Shopping & Errands: Handle weekly grocery shopping in-store or coordinate curbside pickups. Manage ongoing household errands (such as dropping off Amazon returns, taking the family car in for basic maintenance/oil changes, picking up dry cleaning, etc.) using the family vehicle.
- Kitchen & Home Reset: Load and unload the dishwasher, wipe down counters, take out the trash, and clean/sanitize baby bottles or pump parts as needed.
- Daily Tidy & Laundry: Do a light sweep of common areas, keep toys organized, and wash, dry, fold, iron, and put away clothing for the family. Wash linens and towels weekly, and proactively help with other light cleaning as needed (such as sanitizing toddler toys).
What We Are Looking For:
- A Self-Starter: Someone who naturally sees what needs to be done, takes ownership of the kitchen and home projects, and takes initiative without needing a micromanaged checklist.
- Great with Toddlers: Warm, patient, and encouraging during potentially hectic morning transitions.
- An Efficient Cook: Comfortable proposing healthy weekly menus and prepping fresh meals.
- Reliable Communicator: Trustworthy, punctual, and highly proactive if schedules change.
Requirements & Perks:
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Family Vehicle & Fuel Provided: You do not need to use your personal car for daycare drop-offs, grocery shopping, or errands. A family vehicle and a dedicated credit card for fuel, groceries, maintenance, and errands will be provided for all job-related driving.
- Must pass a background check and provide 2–3 verifiable professional references.
Environmental Note: Both parents work from home in dedicated home office spaces.
Compensation: $20.00 / hour | Paid weekly.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
Work Location: In person
Salary : $20
