What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Technician (HVAC Maintenance Tech) position at Eagle County Government Careers?
The Facility's Department mission is to provide high-quality maintenance and repair for a safe, clean, productive and well-maintained physical environment for Eagle County Government buildings, grounds, and fairgrounds.
Maintenance Tech III- Hiring Range: $27.51-$33.01. The maximum pay for this position is $38.51.
Maintenance Tech IV- Hiring Range: $29.71-$35.65. The maximum pay for this position is $41.59.
Maintenance Tech V- Hiring Range: $32.08-$38.50. The maximum pay for this position is $44.92.
Eagle County Government is looking to fill one position; however, we are willing to consider applicants of levels III, IV, and V. See the descriptions & qualifications for all levels of Maintenance Techs below.
Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday; on-call rotation and some overtime for snow removal and Fair & Rodeo event.

Maintenance Tech III
The Maintenance Technician will perform various maintenance duties to efficiently operate the county's facilities and grounds, and keep them in proper repair, clean and safe for public use.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
- Minimum three years of experience (prior maintenance/construction experience counts towards the overall experience qualification)
- Ability to work on own with minimal direction and supervision
- A valid state driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record is preferred.
- Training: New hires can complete this training with their first year of employment (BOC Fundamentals not necessary for a new hire)
- Completed BOC Level 1 Training
- Competed Safety Training
- Completed Equipment Operator Training
- Completed two of the four following EC training courses (Transition into Leadership, Navigating Critical Conversations, Creating Exceptional Customer Experiences, or Communication Skills in the Workplace)
Maintenance Tech IV
Performs various mechanical maintenance and repair duties to efficiently operate the county’s facilities and grounds and keep them in proper repair and safe for public use.
Serves as back-up for Lead Mechanical Technician for computerized and mechanical BAC control, which includes monitoring, establishing solutions, and repairing HVAC systems for all county facilities.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
- Minimum Work Experience: Five years maintenance or construction experience; or, any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Skilled trades position (HVAC, plumbing, electrical experience/duties, but no license)
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Training: New hires can complete this training within their first year of employment (BOC Fundamentals not necessary for a new hire)
- Completed BOC Level 1 Training
- Competed Safety Training
- Completed Equipment Operator Training
- Completed two of the four following EC training courses (Transition into Leadership, Navigating Critical Conversations, Creating Exceptional Customer Experiences, or Communication Skills in the Workplace)

Maintenance Tech V

Qualifications

- Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
- Minimum Work Experience: Five years maintenance or construction experience; or, any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Licensed Journeyman in either Plumbing, Electrical or equivalent certification in HVAC
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Training: New hires can complete this training with their first year of employment (BOC Fundamentals not necessary for a new hire)
- Completed BOC Level 1 Training
- Competed Safety Training
- Completed Equipment Operator Training
- Completed two of four following EC training courses (Transition into Leadership, Navigating Critical Conversations, Creating Exceptional Customer Experiences, or Communication Skills in the Workplace)
