SUMMARY:
The Commercial Lending Officer is responsible for managing an existing loan portfolio comprised of both consumer and commercial loans, including the collection of payments and ongoing monitoring of portfolio performance.
The ideal candidate will be a self-directed professional with the ability to make independent decisions that bind the bank on significant matters. This loan officer must have $50,000 lending authority, sound judgement, strong analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of applicable banking regulations and lending practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage an existing loan portfolio of consumer and commercial loans, including collection of payments, monitoring past due accounts, and reporting portfolio status to the loan committee
- Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility and creditworthiness; underwrite consumer and commercial credit requests and present loan packages to the loan committee for approval
- Review tax returns and prepare cash flow analyses and debt-to-income statements to support credit decisions
- Run and review credit reports, EDR, flood determinations, and other required reports
- Approve loans within established lending authority or prepare complete loan packages for committee approval
- Complete loan contracts by explaining terms and provisions to applicants; obtain required signatures, notarizations, and fees
- Conduct property and collateral inspections, including real estate and agricultural assets, as needed for prospective loans or at the request of other loan officers
- Work on new and renewal loan requests daily; maintain communication with processors and underwriters to ensure required documents are collected and files are complete for review and audit
- Contact customers throughout the loan process to communicate requirements and facilitate a smooth, efficient financing experience
- Assist customers via phone, email, and referrals from staff to provide full-service banking solutions
- Develop new business by actively cultivating relationships with new customers, new residents, and community members, and promote all typers of loan and deposit account products available through Eagle Bank.
- Always Represent Eagle Bank as a Bank officer, both inside and outside the bank, in accordance with Eagle Bank’s Code of Conduct.
- Participate in community events and activities, including those held outside of normal business hours, in support of the bank’s community presence.
- Extend working hours as needed to accommodate customer needs and complete varied tasks on behalf of customers
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in consumer and commercial loan origination, underwriting, and portfolio management
- Ability to analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flows, and credit reports to make sound lending decisions
- Must hold a $50,000 individual lending authority
- Ability to make independent decisions the bind the bank on significant matters with minimal supervision
- Strong initiative in problem solving, business development, and customer relationship management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain loan terms, provisions, and requirements clearly to applicants
- Ability to work collaboratively with processors, underwriters, and fellow loan officers in a team0oriented environment.
- Active community involvement and the ability to represent Eagle Bank professionally in public settings
