EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 70,000 people in need through 120 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to work Temporary full-time for its Vocational Services program.
- Wage: $34-$36.05 per hour
- Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
- Location: 175 Fulton Ave in Hempstead NY
- Position Availability: Up to 6/30/2026
Primary Purpose of Job:
The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for providing counseling, vocational assistance, and employment services to clients referred from drug/alcohol treatment programs in Nassau County, with the outcome of economic self-sufficiency as the objective of the counseling process.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform client intake to obtain information to initiate the counseling process.
- Provide ongoing individual and group counseling to develop vocational and educational plans based on education, employment background, expressed interest and career exploration activities.
- Conduct follow-up counseling sessions to review progress towards established goals.
- Administer, score, and interpret aptitude, interest, and work sample tests when appropriate.
- Function as agency liaison with vocational agencies such as ACCESS/VR, DOL and One-Stop Employment Centers.
- Maintain individual client case folders.
- Consult with family, school, and community agencies regarding client's progress.
- Utilize the educational training, skills and experience obtained to provide appropriate professional services, techniques, and strategies for clients.
- Explore and develop employment opportunities and community resources for referral purposes.
- Prepare required forms and keep statistics on client contacts, referrals, job activities, etc. 11. Perform all relevant duties as determined by EAC NETWORK Administration.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
- Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, or an approved related human services field and be a “Qualified Health Professional” (CASAC, CRC, LSW, LMHC, LPC), in good standing with the appropriate licensing or certifying authority required.
- Minimum of two years of career counseling experience with individuals with a history of alcohol/substance abuse problems required.
- Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email, and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
- Must have access to a car and possess a valid New York State Driver's License.
