EA Talent Solutions has been engaged by a mid-size real estate company seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and financial reporting activities across a multi-entity platform. This role partners closely with ownership and oversees financial operations, reporting, controls, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee full accounting function: general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month- and year-end close
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Lead investor and lender reporting, including consolidations
- Manage cash flow forecasting, debt servicing, capital calls, and distributions
- Drive annual budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling
- Manage and develop the accounting team (2–10 staff)
- Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
- Lead annual audits and coordinate tax compliance with external firms
- Handle lender covenants and reporting requirements
- Optimize accounting systems; support ERP upgrades or implementations
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- Master’s degree (MBA or MS Accounting) (required)
- CPA required; CMA or CFA a plus
Experience
- 7–12 years of accounting/finance experience
- 3–5 years in a leadership role
- Real estate, private equity, or investment firm experience required
Technical Expertise
- Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge
- Experience with consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and revenue recognition
- Real estate accounting expertise: lease accounting, capital vs. expense, waterfalls, debt structures, LLCs/partnerships
- Advanced Excel
- ERP experience (Yardi preferred; Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or QuickBooks acceptable)
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Hands-on leader with strong communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with owners, auditors, lenders, and investors
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Thrives in a fast-paced, lean environment

Salary : $170,000 - $195,000
