EA Talent Solutions has been engaged by a well-established real estate management organization to identify an Assistant Controller to oversee their full accounts payable function. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who takes ownership of their work and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the end-to-end accounts payable function, including invoice processing, vendor management, payment runs, and reconciliations
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of all AP transactions in accordance with company policies and approval workflows
- Oversee vendor onboarding, maintenance of vendor records, and resolution of payment disputes or discrepancies
- Prepare and process ACH payments, wire transfers, and check runs
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Support preparation of financial statements for a portfolio of properties, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
- Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
- Assist with CAM reconciliations, tenant billing, and lease-related accounting
- Collaborate with property managers and operations teams to ensure accurate coding and allocation of expenses
- Maintain organized and audit-ready documentation across all AP and accounting records
- Assist with external audits and tax preparation by providing supporting schedules and documentation
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the AP function
- Support the Controller with ad hoc projects and reporting as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 5 years of accounting experience, with significant exposure to accounts payable management
- Prior experience in real estate, property management, or a related industry strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles
- Proficiency in property management and accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, or similar platforms; QuickBooks experience a plus
- Advanced Excel skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external vendors
- CPA or progress toward certification a plus

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
