Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Temp Certified Surgical Tech (CST) for General Surgery to join our healthcare team during daytime shifts. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment, supporting a variety of procedures across multiple specialties. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation, aseptic techniques, and patient care protocols, ensuring optimal outcomes and safety standards. This role is essential in assisting surgical teams by preparing operating rooms, managing surgical instruments, and maintaining sterile environments.
Duties
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing, and managing surgical tools efficiently.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses throughout surgeries, ensuring patient stability.
- Maintain accurate documentation of medical records, including surgical notes and instrument counts within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic.
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment and surgical instruments following hospital standards.
- Support trauma care procedures, including treatment of fractures and management of acute injuries in Level I and Level II trauma center settings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care units, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and pediatric settings.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques to prevent healthcare-associated infections during all procedures.
- Assist with endoscopy procedures and other ambulatory surgery center operations as needed.
- Participate in data collection for quality improvement initiatives related to infection prevention and control.
Required Documents
- 5 years current CST experience - NON NEGOTIABLE [REQUIRED]
- General, Gyn, Vascular, Thoracic, Ortho (inc total joints) Neuro/Head/Spine and Trauma experience [required]
- MUST BE ABLE TO PRECEPT [REQUIRED]
- C-Section, ENT, Plastics, DaVinci Robot experience [preferred]
- NBSTSA [REQUIRED] (NCCT not accepted)
- Meditech Expanse experience [highly preferred]
- Travel experience - NON-NEGOTIABLE [REQUIRED]
- Traveler candidate must have their own vehicle.
Shifts: Days (8 hrs) 40hrs guranteed
