About the Position:
E Ink is seeking a hands-on Technician to support sample preparation and materials testing activities within our R&D and engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a laboratory or technical environment and takes pride in careful, precise work.
The Technician will focus on preparing layered material samples using lamination and precision cutting techniques, followed by inspection and imaging using microscopes and other techniques. The work directly supports scientists and engineers in evaluating product performance, reliability, and material behavior throughout the development process.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in materials science, chemistry, physics, or a related technical field who is interested in gaining practical experience in applied materials development and testing.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare material samples using different techniques, especially lamination and precision cutting.
- Perform routine optical, mechanical, and environmental tests according to established procedures.
- Conduct routine and non-routine testing in accordance with internal standards and engineering requirements.
- Follow detailed instructions and engineering drawings to ensure consistent, repeatable results.
- Assist in developing and documenting standard procedures for sample preparation.
- Record observations, measurements, and test data accurately.
- Help evaluate material performance, durability, and reliability.
- Identify irregularities or defects and report findings clearly to engineers.
- Work closely with engineers and scientists to understand testing needs.
- Support prototype builds and early-stage development activities.
- Participate in troubleshooting activities to identify root causes of product or process issues.
- Maintain lab equipment and ensure tools are clean, organized, and function properly.
- Follow all lab safety rules and quality procedures to ensure a safe and consistent working environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required, Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
- 0–2 years of laboratory, research, manufacturing, or technical experience (internships and academic lab experience welcome).
- Experience with sample preparation, or materials characterization is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform careful, hands-on work.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Basic data recording and documentation skills.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and work in a collaborative team environment.
Benefits:
The hourly pay range for this position is $30.00 to $37.00, not including any variable pay. The total compensation package may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other variable pay components. The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
