Summary
Responsible for Supervising production activities during a shift. The Production Supervisor is responsible for assigning production activities, workplace safety including permit approvals, reviewing production data, batch sheets, records and metrics. Additionally, the Plant Supervisor acts as the Ranking Chemical Operator and is responsible for controlling manufacturing processes and operation the equipment used to manufacture and package chemicals. The Plant Production Supervisor performs all activities as specified in SOP's or as directed by Plant Management.
Responsible for their respective shift activities with emphasis on Safety, Quality and Efficiency.
The Plant Production Supervisor, in support of the Assistant Plant Manager and Pant Manager, can direct and prioritize the work assignments and duties of Team Leads and Chemical Operator on shirt and ensures that all tasks are performed in a safe manner.
Responsibilities
- Supervises manufacturing activities on assigned shifts, including Responsibilities include assigning tasks to Team Leads and Chemical Operators. Monitoring production processes and ensuring safe and efficient production output. Ensures shift maintains and orderly, clean and safe working area. The Plant Production Superior is a working supervisor and in addition to supervisory responsibilities they perform the same or similar tasks assigned to Team Leans and Chemical Operators.
- Conducts safe operation of all plant equipment including (but not limited to) forklifts, mixing tanks, reactors, pumps, homogenizers, vacuum pumps, milling equipment, etc.
- Manufactures product using BOM's, Batch sheets and SOP's paying strict attention to safety directives, process and quality instructions and charge quantities and indicated.
- Records the process parameters on BOM's, batch & process sheets, monitors/controls batch reactions, reactor parameters and tanks levels using DCS/Panel Boards/meters/indicators. Adjust production processes/reactions as necessary to ensure safety and quality. Makes batch adjustments as directed.
- Troubleshoots process problems and takes corrective action. Seeks assistance from Plant Management when necessary. Takes corrective actions when alarm conditions exist. Teaks actions necessary in an emergency to help minimize danger to personnel and the environment.
- Works overtime as necessary to assure operation & production needs are met and to ensure on-time delivery of materials to customers.
- Transfers/discharges product to packaging as required and labels as directed. Stages package material for transfer to warehouse.
- Loads/Unloads production from bulk and non-bulk trucks.
- Works safely, following all rules, regulations and policies. Ensures all work and surrounding areas are maintained using good housekeeping principles.
- Acts as a Trainer/Mentor to production staff to increase both their job aptitude and efficiency.
- Acts to resolve personal conflicts within the team and/or other departments. Promotes a team mentality
- Performs other tasks as assigned by site Management.

Required Experience regarding the job
- Minimum 3 years: 5 years preferred, as a Chemical Operator with experience in batch manufacturing and reactions. Preferred 2 to 4 years in a prior production leadership role.
- Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent Required. (2-4 years of lead/supervisory experience or equivalent secondary education preferred).
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and wear a respirator.
- Must be able to use computers, computer software and distributed control systems.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
- Ability to read and comprehend English instructions (Spoken & Written) and the ability to effectively communicate information to both internal and external parties.
- Prior forklift experience or ability to gain license in designated time.
