Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in implementing comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Conduct therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy, and assist with modalities to promote healing and mobility.
- Monitor patient progress and document responses to treatment accurately in medical records.
- Educate patients and their families on exercises, activity modifications, and discharge instructions to support ongoing recovery at home or in care facilities.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines during all patient interactions.
- Participate in ongoing training on physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and specialized therapies relevant to outpatient, geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, and other specialties.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) from an accredited program.
- Eligible for licensure with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology essential for effective patient care.
- Proven ability to develop and follow detailed care plans for diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Familiarity with outpatient clinics or orthopedic rehabilitation settings is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to educate patients about therapy procedures and discharge instructions clearly and empathetically.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across outpatient settings while maintaining a positive attitude.
