Competitive Head Team Coach
A Competitive Head Team coach position typically involves overseeing both the coaching and operational aspects of a gymnastics facility. This includes coaching athletes, managing staff, and ensuring the smooth daily functioning of the gym. Responsibilities range from developing training programs and monitoring athlete progress to handling member inquiries and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Gymnastics Coach:
· Coaching: Provide technical instruction and coaching to gymnasts of various levels.
· Program Development: Create and implement training programs, set goals, and monitor athlete progress.
· Safety: Ensure a safe training environment, including proper spotting techniques and adherence to safety protocols.
· Skill Development: Help athletes develop and improve their gymnastics skills.
· Physical Fitness: be able to effectively spot
· Clarity: Use clear and concise language when explaining skills, corrections, and instructions. Avoid jargon or overly technical terms that athletes may not understand.
· Active Listening: Pay close attention to what athletes are saying, both verbally and nonverbally, and respond thoughtfully.
· Positive Reinforcement: Offer encouragement and praise for effort and progress, not just for perfect execution.
· Constructive Feedback: Provide specific, actionable feedback that focuses on improvement rather than just pointing out mistakes.
· Empathy: Demonstrate an understanding of athletes' feelings and perspectives.
· Tone of Voice: Use a supportive and encouraging tone, especially when delivering feedback
If applying for a Location Director:
· Facility Management: Oversee the daily operations of the gym, including maintenance, cleanliness, and equipment safety.
· Staff Management: Manage and schedule staff, potentially including other coaches and front desk personnel.
· Customer Service: Handle member inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure a positive member experience.
· Business Operations: May be involved in membership management, sales, and marketing efforts.
· Financial Management: Potentially oversee budgeting, expense tracking, and revenue generation.
· Coach and Manage Classes:
Overseeing the scheduling and organization of gymnastics classes, including recreational and competitive programs.
· Event Coordination:
Planning and executing gymnastics events, such as competitions, parties, exhibitions, and workshop and community events.
· Communication:
Maintaining communication with parents, athletes, and staff regarding schedules, progress, and events.
Verbal Communication:
· Direct and Clear: Clearly communicate gym policies, procedures, and expectations to staff and athletes.
- Open Communication: Encourage open dialogue and feedback from staff and athletes.
- Active Listening: Listen to concerns and suggestions from staff and athletes and address them promptly.
- Conflict Resolution: Be prepared to mediate conflicts between staff, athletes, or parents.
Qualifications”

Significant experience in gymnastics coaching, with a strong understanding of skills, drills, and safety protocols.

Experience in managing staff, facilities, and operations, potentially including customer service and sales.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain a structured environment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with athletes, parents, staff, and potentially vendors.

Background check, CPR, First Aid and AED. USAG U101 Safety Course, U100 Gymnastics courses, Preschool Coaches’ League and various other USAG courses as needed.
A successful Location Director is a highly organized, skilled, and passionate individual who can effectively balance the demands of coaching with the responsibilities of managing a gymnastics facility and its staff.
