Base salary: $200K to $300K plus equity
Location: New York, 4 days in person | Full time

The work you lead here can show up in a city budget and on a repaired street. Port Lavaca, Texas, has used the platform for capital improvement planning, while Covington, Kentucky, is bringing it into pavement planning. This is a Director role for someone who still wants to build and whose decisions will be visible in the product, the team, and the communities it serves.

We are hiring for a company building the operating layer for the infrastructure cities maintain. Roads are the starting point: imagery, vehicle data, GIS records, engineering documents, and local knowledge become a living map of assets and their condition. Public works teams can use that evidence to plan capital, explain priorities, and manage work. The longer ambition reaches sidewalks, drainage, signs, bridges, and other public assets. The product has customers, revenue, and funding, while the engineering choices that define the next phase are still open. You would join a world-class engineering team that includes a founding software engineer formerly at Brex and a machine learning engineer formerly at X, Google's moonshot factory.

What you'll own

Lead a small engineering group while staying in the code. Partner with the founder on priorities, help engineers make good trade-offs, and connect product delivery to how local governments actually plan and complete work.

• Set technical direction and release standards without slowing customer learning.
• Build and review important frontend, backend, and data changes yourself.
• Own incidents, technical debt decisions, hiring standards, and team development.
• Work with customer success to turn deployment lessons into better software.
  
  

Problems you'll solve

Cities need software that is fast enough for daily work and dependable enough for public spending decisions. You will decide when to experiment, when to add validation, and how to make the team accountable for outcomes after a release.

Candidate fit

• You have led engineers in a small or scaling product company.
• You still write, review, test, and debug production code.
• You have built structure where it helps while keeping a team close to users.
• You can work in New York in person 4 days per week.
