Job Summary
The primary responsibility for this position is to support project planning and construction of electric utility infrastructure, as required by project or contract specifications. The operations planner will prepare the work, plan for the work, secure resources for the planned work, manage the documents to the work order, prepare/ issue job packages/pouches and assist with final job pouch closeout. This position may also assist with the development of project plans and schedules to execute scope safety, efficiently, and cost effectively. May also help monitor project performance (cost, schedule, scope changes, safety, and quality).
Responsibilities & Duties:
· Support the work management process via the work week preparation (T-week countdown) – resource validation, work packages, schedule.
· Secure switching requests -- submittals and downloads from Switching Request System.
· Project materials coordination; create Material Requests in Asset Suite 8.
· Call in / enter JULIE locates.
· Secure railroad flagging, as needed.
· Participate in pre-construction walkdowns and meetings.
· Verify field resource estimates.
· Schedule job walkdowns and final field reviews with field personnel to verify job is ready to work per the schedule.
· Assist with job walkdowns for work and resource coordination.
· Secure job requisitions ahead of work start.
· Ensure planning tasks are aligned to scope and schedule.
· Create sequences in work tasks and activities and coordinate with project management and field personnel.
· Issue final work package/pouch to field personnel.
· Assist Project Manager with tracking/documenting and securing approval for scope changes.
· May be required to work to support storm restoration, as needed. Eligible for storm compensation.
Position Requirements:
· High School diploma, Associate’s Degree accepted; Certification or Bachelor degree in Construction Management or Engineering is a plus.
· At least 3 years’ experience working in electric utility construction or 5 years working in general construction.
· Experience with union workforce agreements is a plus.
· Knowledge of advanced functions of Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, and Power Point. Switching Request System and/or Asset Suite 8 is a plus.
· Must have excellent communication skills and writing skills.
· Must be able to comprehend and communicate information that is technical in nature.
· Must be able to sequence work tasks and activities, and make adjustments on the fly.
· Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with great ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
