We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented PPF Installer Apprentice who is interested in learning the trade and building a long-term career in the automotive protection industry.
Position Overview
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who wants to learn professional Paint Protection Film installation from experienced PPF technicians.
Previous professional PPF installation experience is not required. We are willing to train the right person who has a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in automotive customization and protection.
As an apprentice, you will work directly alongside experienced PPF installers and progressively learn the skills necessary to safely and professionally install paint protection film on a variety of vehicles.
The goal is to develop your skills from basic preparation and shop responsibilities into performing installation work independently.
What Is Paint Protection Film?
Paint Protection Film is a virtually invisible protective film installed over painted vehicle surfaces to help protect against road debris, rock chips, scratches, environmental contaminants, and everyday wear.
As an apprentice, you'll learn how professional PPF is installed on everything from daily drivers to high-end, luxury, performance, and specialty vehicles.
Responsibilities
As a PPF Installer Apprentice, you will assist experienced technicians with:
- Preparing vehicles for Paint Protection Film installation.
- Thoroughly washing, cleaning, and preparing vehicle surfaces.
- Performing surface decontamination as instructed.
- Assisting with clay-bar and other preparation procedures when necessary.
- Learning proper PPF installation techniques.
- Learning how to properly handle, position, stretch, and manipulate film.
- Assisting with pre-cut and pattern-based installations.
- Learning proper slip solution and installation solution techniques.
- Learning how to properly work film around curves, edges, contours, and complex body panels.
- Assisting with trimming and finishing film under the supervision of experienced installers.
- Learning proper edge wrapping and finishing techniques.
- Helping inspect completed installations for lifting, contamination, wrinkles, stretch marks, and other imperfections.
- Properly caring for customer vehicles throughout the installation process.
- Maintaining a clean and organized installation environment.
- Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Following company procedures for vehicle protection and shop cleanliness.
- Assisting with other automotive protection services when needed.
Training & Development
Our goal is to teach you the PPF trade from the ground up.
You will receive hands-on training alongside experienced installers and progressively take on more responsibility as your skills improve.
Training may include:
- Proper vehicle preparation.
- Paint decontamination.
- Surface inspection.
- Proper handling of PPF.
- Understanding film behavior and stretch.
- Slip solution preparation and application.
- Film positioning and alignment.
- Squeegee techniques.
- Working around body lines and contours.
- Stretching and forming film.
- Edge wrapping.
- Seam and finish techniques.
- Proper trimming techniques.
- Working with pre-cut patterns.
- Learning XPEL DAP pattern software and installation procedures.
- Quality control and final inspection.
- Proper care and maintenance of customer vehicles.
As your skills develop, you will gradually transition from assisting experienced installers to completing individual panels and eventually full PPF installations independently.

- Construction or other detail-oriented trades.
Previous professional PPF installation experience is not required.

Physical Requirements
This position requires hands-on work and the ability to remain active throughout the workday.
Candidates should be comfortable with:
- Standing for extended periods.
- Bending, reaching, kneeling, and working around vehicles.
- Working on various areas of a vehicle, including lower body panels and other difficult-to-reach areas.
- Performing detailed work with hands and fingers.
- Safely moving around vehicles and shop equipment.
- Maintaining focus during detailed installation work.
