Duties
- Provide one-on-one support to students with disabilities, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, and other special needs.
- Assist students with daily classroom activities, lesson engagement, and behavioral management strategies.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) by supporting tailored instructional goals and accommodations.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive environment conducive to learning and social interaction.
- Assist with lesson planning, curriculum development, and literacy or math activities tailored to each student’s developmental level.
- Ensure safety and well-being during school hours by supervising children during activities, transitions, and breaks.
Skills
- Experience working with special education students with challenging behaviors.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques.
- Proficiency in special education practices, including familiarity with IEP processes and curriculum adaptations.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills to support positive behavior and engagement.
- Compassionate approach to working with individuals with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental challenges.
- Prior experience in special education school environments or classrooms .
