Join our team as a Journeyman Roofer and apply your technical expertise to deliver high-quality commercial roofing projects. The Journeyman Roofer is a skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial roofing systems with minimal supervision while supporting crew productivity and jobsite success.
This role is designed for experienced roofing professionals who demonstrate strong workmanship, technical knowledge, leadership, and a commitment to safety and quality.
This position is part of a union workforce and employees are expected to comply with applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements, company policies, safety standards, and training expectations.
What You’ll Do
- Install commercial roofing systems including single-ply, metal, insulated systems, ACM, and other roofing assemblies as applicable
- Perform flashing, detailing, terminations, and other advanced roofing installation tasks
- Read, interpret, and apply drawings, details, and manufacturer specifications to perform work safely and accurately
- Identify, troubleshoot, and correct installation deficiencies and complex field conditions
- Serve as a technical resource for crews across roofing systems and installation methods
- Coordinate work activities with the Foreman and Superintendent to support schedules and productivity
- Monitor and manage materials and inventory while proactively identifying shortages
- Verify installations meet manufacturer requirements, company quality standards, and project specifications
- Maintain productivity, workmanship, and quality expectations on assigned work
- Mentor, train, and support Apprentice Roofers in skill development and jobsite performance
- Identify safety hazards, jobsite risks, and behavioral concerns impacting safety or production
- Model and reinforce safety standards and best practices
- Exercise Stop-Work Authority to prevent serious safety violations and protect employees, property, and the worksite
- Handle tools, equipment, and materials responsibly while maintaining housekeeping standards
What We’re Looking For
- Dispatched through Roofers & Waterproofers Union Local 81 apprenticeship program with Journeyman “JJ” classification
- Demonstrated experience with commercial roofing systems and installation methods
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and industry standards
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and manufacturer specifications
- Ability to work independently while supporting team performance
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and leadership skills
Travel Requirements
Must report to assigned jobsites as directed, including travel to projects outside the local area and occasional overnight, out-of-town, or out-of-state assignments based on project and business needs and applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
