Looking for a passionate and highly qualified Lead Teacher to join our team in downtown Chicago's heart. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities, fostering a nurturing and positive environment, and ensuring that each child receives the attention and care they deserve.
Your role will include creating a safe, engaging classroom where children can explore, learn, and grow. You will work closely with an assistant teacher to maintain a structured classroom environment that promotes cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Position: LEAD TEACHER
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Chicago, IL 60601
Schedule: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM / 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the classroom by developing and executing age-appropriate lesson plans that promote learning and growth.
- Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.
- Supervise and mentor the assistant teacher, fostering collaboration to provide exceptional care and education.
- Build positive relationships with parents, providing regular updates on children's progress and activities.
- Oversee daily routines and manage classroom dynamics to ensure a structured, supportive environment for the children.
Requirements:
- Certified Preschool Teacher according to Chicago, IL licensing standards, as set by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
- Must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours with at least 6 credit hours in early childhood education (ECE) or child development.
- Must hold a valid Illinois Gateways Credential Level 1 or higher, or be working towards obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of experience in early childhood education, particularly with children aged 3-5 years.
- Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a calm and focused learning environment.
- Ability to engage directly with children on the floor, providing hands-on learning and guidance.
- Growth-minded, passionate about professional development, and committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom culture.
Additional Qualifications:
- Must be CPR and First Aid Certified or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
- Knowledge of Illinois Early Learning Guidelines and DCFS regulations for licensed childcare centers.
- Ability to work as part of a team and support the development of a positive classroom atmosphere.
