The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide first-line supervision of nursing services in either a clinical, educational, or programmatic setting at a Louisiana War Veterans Home—a large, complex, 156-bed, 24-hour health care facility.

Job Duties and Other Information
As a Registered Nurse, you will perform professional nurse duties that may include administration of blood and blood components, I.V. medications, parenteral nutrition, central line therapy, etc., under the close supervision of a registered nurse of a higher level.
In this role, you will also:
- Receive physicians' instructions regarding patient care and ensure that orders are transmitted to other units as needed.
- Make regular patient rounds to observe and assess patients' physical conditions and behaviors, evaluate the quality of care provided, and ensure proper documentation of treatment and nursing observations.
- Administer oral and intramuscular medications, begin intravenous therapies, and perform medical tests as needed in the absence of subordinate professional staff.
- Provide specialized nursing care, i.e., ventilative care, special equipment, triage, or multiple system failures, etc.
- Admit patients or receive patients following admission by conducting a Nursing Assessment and Initial Treatment Plan.
