Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team. This role will support the accounting function across our portfolio of properties, operating companies, and related entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate has experience in real estate or property management accounting and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting for assigned properties/entities.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.
- Record and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, and tenant charges.
- Assist with CAM reconciliations, operating expense reviews, and annual budget preparation.
- Maintain accurate tenant ledgers, rental schedules, and lease abstract details.
- Process journal entries, accruals, and month-end closing activities.
- Support external audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requests.
- Review vendor invoices for accuracy and proper coding; assist with payment processing.
- Monitor cash balances, prepare funding requests, and support capital expenditure tracking.
- Assist with process improvements, system updates, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in real estate or infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with investment structures (LLCs, LPs, etc.)
- Experience with QuickBooks, Rent Manager, Yardi or other comparable systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative mindset
