What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator, Transportation Fleet position at Duval County Public Schools?
Job Summary
Coordinates transportation fleet services. Ensures school bus contractors operate within Duval County School Board contract guidelines. Works closely with the team to ensure fleet compliance, safety compliance including school bus inspections, fully functioning operational systems and record management.
Essential Functions
1. Manage BusPatrol system
2. Monitor and report school bus inspections & information
3. Record and report accidents / incidents
4. Manage and maintain School Bus On-line Inventory
5. Perform School Bus Specification inspections
6. Perform school bus safety audits
7. Perform Contractor maintenance shop audits
8. Assist public charter schools with transportation concerns
9. Assist with the deployment of VOTSB transportation
10. Work with COJ Inspection Division on criteria & procedural changes
11. Prepare Master Bus / Master Route List for all users
12. Work in conjunction with the other Fleet Coordinator to ensure coverage and cross-training of all things fleet
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Three (3) years of transportation related experience, to include student management, daily school bus transportation, analyzing bus stops for safety, planning, scheduling, maintaining routes, and implementing efficiency and optimization techniques. Proficient in basic computer skills and able to operate personal computers and associated software applications to include word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.

- Strong knowledge of public school administration including daily school bus
- Strong knowledge of customer service practices, principles, and procedures
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local statutes; rules, policies, procedures, and program objectives related to school bus fleets

- Basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database software skills
