Dutton Law Group is seeking an Insurance Defense Legal Assistant. We have locations in Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale and Pensacola. Applicants should have 2 years of experience, be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills, and be well organized to join our fast-growing team. Insurance defense experience recommended.
Duties:
- Organizes cases by establishing and organizing files; establishing calendars; expediting requirements and deadlines; documenting actions.
- Scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel's scheduling requests; coordinating hearing and depositions and processing of pleadings and correspondence and use of the e-filing portal.
- Preparation of exhibits and correspondence; scheduling mediation conferences and hearings; drafting pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses from opposing counsel; initiating and maintaining contact with adjusters and opposing counsel.
- Helps clients by initiating and maintaining contact; preparing clients to answer discovery and keeping clients informed of case status
- Ability to file pleadings, etc., in the Florida State Court filing system
- Accomplishes law firm mission by completing other duties as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and case management software
- Working knowledge of legal administration
- Working knowledge of Case Management software (CLIO) a plus
- Organizational skills
- Time management and planning skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer proficiency
- Detail oriented
- Must be dependable
- Able to keep cases and client matters confidential
