HR Generalist

We are hiring for our direct client

Contract position: 3 months with a possibility of extension

Onsite: Monday to Friday

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Process completed on-boarding documentation and disburse to appropriate parties, including the DOR Payroll Department, the State Board of Retirement, the Commonwealth's Group Insurance Commission (GIC), Empower Retirement (SMART Plan), and unions.
• Help monitor employee leave requests, returns from leave and provide information to the Office of Leave Planning Assistance (OLPA) in accordance with federal/state regulations (e.g., FMLA, PFML, MPLA), collective bargaining agreements ("union contracts"), and the Red Book for managers, confidential employees, and personnel not covered by collective bargaining.
• Track and monitor family medical leave requests, approved family medical leaves, workers' compensation leaves, and leave time reported in timesheets using the leave database, HRCMS, and Commonwealth’s Information Warehouse.  Conducts internal projects and information requests that involve the review and analysis of personnel information, preparation of findings and recommendations.
• Provides quality customer service to employees by conducting research of employment records and personnel administration rules in order to provide accurate responses.
• Maintains confidentiality of personnel information by following the DOR’s Confidentiality Policy to safeguard employee data.
• Writes internal and external communications by drafting letters, instructions, forms and memorandums in order to communicate information to DOR staff, other agencies or external parties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong business writing skills.
• Proficiency in Access, Excel, and Word.
• Human Resources Professional Certification a plus.
• General knowledge of Human Resource policies and process in a large organization.
• Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions and to make appropriate recommendations.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations governing the state personnel system.
• Knowledge of compensation/salary setting rules and regulations within HR guidelines.
• General knowledge of state and federal benefit and leave policies.
