Location: Springfield, NH/New London, NH

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–3:30 PM; Friday, 6:00 AM–12:00 PM.
Schedule may vary based on production needs.

Job Summary

Durgin & Crowell Lumber Co., Inc. is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Planer Mill Laborer to join our production team. This position works primarily at the banding station, preparing finished lumber for shipment and distribution.

The employee will inspect lumber for quality, properly align bundles, bag and wrap lumber, apply shipping straps, and use a computer system to create and verify product tags. This position serves as an important final quality-control check before lumber is shipped.

Key Responsibilities

• Align lumber and prepare bundles for shipment.
• Bag, wrap, band, and secure lumber according to company procedures.
• Use a computer system for tagging and product identification.
• Verify tags and product information for accuracy.
• Inspect lumber for defects, damage, and quality concerns.
• Maintain the flow of production while meeting quality and safety standards.
• Work closely with coworkers to prepare lumber for distribution.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE.
• Work in various areas within the facility as production needs require.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn production/tagging systems.
• Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous lumber, manufacturing, production, or packaging experience is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing and walking.
• Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to repeatedly bend over to inspect and align lumber.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work safely around machinery, lumber, and production equipment.
