Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to inform clinical decisions.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans across various specialties such as primary care, geriatrics, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and behavioral health.
- Administer injections, IV infusions, dermal fillers, botulinum toxin treatments, and perform suturing with precision and adherence to sterile techniques.
- Manage acute pain cases and provide advanced airway management, ventilator support, and spinal taps when necessary.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, and Athenahealth for accurate documentation of patient encounters and medical records.
- Engage in diagnostic evaluations using sonography and laboratory testing; interpret ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for billing and documentation purposes.
- Provide telehealth consultations to expand access to care while maintaining HIPAA compliance and high-quality standards.
- Coordinate with specialists in gastroenterology, infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, occupational health, and other disciplines for comprehensive patient management.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives to advance evidence-based practices within the organization.
- Assist in discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and working within Workers' Compensation law to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Support patients through complex procedures such as catheterization, gastric lavage, cardiac catheterization support, or tube feeding management.
- Contribute to infection control protocols and sterile processing procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license with current certification; experience in acute care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner or eClinicalWorks; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, diagnosis, medication administration—including injections—and diagnostic evaluation techniques like sonography or laboratory specimen processing.
- Experience working across multiple specialties such as emergency medicine, hospital medicine, geriatrics or pediatrics; familiarity with ICU protocols is advantageous.
- Knowledge of CPT coding for procedures and ICD coding for diagnoses; understanding of Workers' Compensation law and utilization review processes is desirable.
- Ability to perform sterile procedures including suturing and catheter care; experience with dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments is a bonus.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and patient education; compassionate approach tailored to diverse populations including assisted living residents or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods; capable of performing physical examinations requiring mobility or lifting assistance such as Hoyer lifts or ventilator management when needed.
