Dunbarton Corporation is recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team that is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment throughout the facility. This position performs janitorial and light maintenance duties, manages cleaning supply inventory, and ensures compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations, including hazardous material and bloodborne pathogen requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain cleanliness of all facility areas, including production floor, break rooms, restrooms, and common areas; empty trash receptacles and dumpsters as needed and dispose of wooden pallets properly
- Perform basic facility maintenance and repair tasks including, but not limited to, plumbing repairs (unclogging drains, replacing faucets, and repairing or replacing toilet components), hanging light fixtures and ceiling fans, patching and finishing drywall, assembling, and installing furniture, and other general upkeep tasks
- Promptly clean up oil spills, biohazardous chemicals, and blood or bodily fluid spills in accordance with OSHA, bloodborne pathogen, and Dunbarton safety guidelines using required PPE
- Operate the floor sweeper, forklift, and trash compactors safely and in accordance with established procedures
- Order, stock, and manage inventory of all cleaning supplies and associated materials to ensure continuous availability
- Follow all LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) procedures when cleaning around or near machinery; adhere to all safety, PPE, and housekeeping requirements
- Handle hazardous materials in compliance with OSHA and Dunbarton HAZCOM/SDS requirements; complete and maintain required hazardous material training certification
- Lubricate machines and equipment as directed by the supervisor; operate basic spray paint equipment and perform special projects as assigned by department or plant management
- Adhere to work schedule and attendance requirements, including overtime if required
- Perform other work as directed and required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of safe handling procedures for hazardous materials, chemicals, and biohazardous substances, including OSHA HAZCOM and bloodborne pathogen standards
- Knowledge of LOTO procedures and applicable safety regulations in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Dunbarton SDS system and requirements
- Skill in operating a forklift, floor sweeper, trash compactors, and basic hand tools; must obtain and maintain forklift operator certification
- Skill in the use of basic electric and manual hand tools
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with coworkers and customers
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns
