Employment Type: Full-Time / Multi-Shift

Schedule: Must be open to all shifts:

• Morning: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• Evening: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
• Overnight: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Role Overview

Dunbar Security is looking to bring on a Residential Security Officer for a community in Virginia Beach. This position blends front desk responsibilities with general security duties, helping ensure residents and visitors experience a safe and well-managed environment. You will often be the first-person people interact with upon arrival, so professionalism, awareness, and clear communication are key in this role.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Manage the front desk and greet residents, guests, and service providers
• Confirm visitor access by checking identification and verifying approval
• Use intercom or communication systems to coordinate guest entry with residents
• Follow established procedures when allowing access to the building
• Receive and log deliveries using property systems, then ensure proper distribution
• Deliver packages to units when required by site guidelines
• Oversee food and courier drop-offs to confirm proper handling
• Walk the property at intervals, checking common areas and entry points
• Keep an eye on camera systems and report anything out of the ordinary
• Control building access to maintain a secure environment
• Respond to alarms or unexpected situations and escalate when needed
• Prepare clear reports covering incidents, daily activity, and observations
• Assist with monitoring basic building systems when applicable
• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned

Basic Requirements

• At least 18 years old
• Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
• Ability to remain composed and professional in a residential setting
• Willingness to work a rotating schedule, including overnight shifts
• Basic computer knowledge for logging information and tracking deliveries
• Dependable attendance and punctuality

Preferred Background

• Experience in residential security, concierge services, or similar roles
• Familiarity with access control tools or property management systems
• Prior experience writing reports or documenting incidents

Work Setting

• Residential community with frequent interaction with residents and visitors
• Mix of desk coverage and walking patrols
• May include standing for extended periods and handling light packages
• Rotating shifts covering mornings, evenings, and overnight hours
