The Residential Remodel Project Manager/Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of residential remodeling projects, coordinating multiple carpentry crews, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This hybrid role combines project management, field supervision, client communication, scheduling, and hands-on skilled carpentry (both rough and finish).
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of balancing leadership responsibilities with on-site craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities Project Management & Scheduling
- Plan, schedule, and oversee multiple residential remodel projects simultaneously.
- Coordinate carpentry crews, subcontractors, and material deliveries.
- Maintain detailed project timelines and ensure projects meet deadlines and budget targets.
- Conduct site walkthroughs, progress checks, and quality-control inspections.
- Identify potential delays and proactively implement solutions.
Customer Service & Client Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners during remodel projects.
- Provide clear communication regarding schedules, progress updates, and any project changes.
- Manage homeowner expectations with professionalism, urgency, and empathy.
- Resolve concerns quickly to maintain customer satisfaction and company reputation.
Field Supervision & Safety
- Ensure job sites operate safely and comply with OSHA and company standards.
- Verify crews follow best practices, building codes, and installation specifications.
- Conduct toolbox talks, enforce safety protocols, and document incidents when necessary.
- Maintain clean, organized, and secure job sites.
Skilled Carpentry Duties (Rough & Finish)
- Perform hands-on carpentry tasks as needed to support project timelines and quality standards.
- Execute rough framing, structural repairs, window/door installations, and interior finish carpentry.
- Assist crews with complex tasks, punch lists, or quality-sensitive work.
- Lead by example by demonstrating craftsmanship and work ethic.
Administrative & Documentation
- Track project expenses, labor hours, and materials.
- Update daily logs, job reports, and change order documentation.
- Work with the office team to communicate material needs, schedule adjustments, and project status.
- Ensure accurate completion of all required permits, inspections, and close-out documents.
Qualifications Required
- 10 years residential carpentry experience (rough & finish).
- Prior supervisory or project management experience in residential remodeling.
- Ability to coordinate multiple crews and manage multiple jobs at once.
- Strong customer-service mindset and communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, scopes of work, and building plans.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Experience with CRM or project-management software (Buildertrend, CoConstruct, JobTread, etc.).
- Knowledge of local building codes and inspection processes.
- Ability to estimate labor and material needs for small to mid-size remodel projects.
