Immigration Legal Assistant (Bilingual – Spanish/English)

About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Bilingual Immigration Legal Assistant fluent in both English and Spanish. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and highly organized, with strong communication skills. While prior immigration experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates dedication and the ability to learn quickly.
This position involves direct interaction with clients and courts, managing attorney calendars, and preparing a variety of legal filings. It requires both independent initiative and team collaboration to ensure cases move efficiently through the legal process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a high volume of Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) filings and Form I-360 petitions
- Assist with U Visas, VAWA, T Visas, and other humanitarian relief applications
- Draft and assemble asylum, cancellation of removal, and withholding of removal applications
- Draft legal correspondence, including motions to change venue and motions for continuance
- Manage attorney calendars and coordinate court appearances, hearings, and client meetings
- Communicate with immigration court (EOIR) and family court regarding case updates and filings
- Track deadlines, update case management systems, and maintain internal spreadsheets and trackers
- Translate documents and serve as an interpreter during Spanish-speaking client consultations
- Use Excel to manage case data, evidence lists, and client records
Qualifications
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (required)
- Prior experience in immigration law (preferred, but not required)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (required)
- Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage time efficiently and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
