Position Highlights
The Supervisor Breast Imaging/Ultrasound is a working supervisor who directs and coordinates the daily activities for all breast imaging & ultrasound staff within the department, participates and assists in patient care, adheres to regulatory compliance while meeting departmental budget targets. The supervisor assists in managing employee files, hiring, employee discipline, ongoing mentoring, coaching and recruitment efforts, works to minimize patient delays, generate and maintain department reports, annual performance reviews, modality accreditation and handles patient and physician complaints.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $79,255-$118,884, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.

The supervisor assists in managing employee files, hiring, employee discipline, ongoing mentoring, coaching and recruitment efforts, works to minimize patient delays, generate and maintain department reports, annual performance reviews, modality accreditation and handles patient and physician complaints.
Major Responsibilities
- Supervises day-to-day performance of staff to ensure operational efficiency.
- Oversees staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and reviews and respond to staff requests for time off.
- Assists in covering any shifts that technologists can’t cover at various locations.
- Maintain mandated numbers & accreditations for Mammography
- Directly supervises staff which includes providing feedback, coaching, and addresses all employee concerns.
- Participates in the selection and interviewing process.
- Trains and coordinates training on department policies and procedures for all new hires
- Acts as an educational and technical resource to staff and radiologists within the department.
- Ensures effective day-to-day compliance and operation of Ultrasound equipment.
- Provides guidance on department rules, regulations, procedures and protocols.
- Participate in on-going service and process improvement efforts which include the review and selection of new equipment.
- Establishes image quality, excellence in patient care, and uninterrupted workflow.
- Acts as a liaison between the lead technologists and radiologists for protocol development and maintenance to ensure standardization.
- Oversees quality control testing, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Participates in projects and ongoing work activities aligned with area initiatives.
- Assists in the development of standards of safety to patients and the public to assure safety and awareness.
- Responds to PeerVues as needed when additional guidance is needed to ensure technologists are in compliance with established procedures and protocols.
- Responsible for all monthly, quarterly and yearly MQSA data to include Medical Audit, EQUIP Program, and Radiologist licensure & CEU tracking.
- Ensure MQSA standards are maintained and responsible for all MQSA inspections.
- Work with Manager & Modality Lead to maintain ACR Accreditation.
- Responsible for tracking/scheduling the Annual Physicist Survey’s for all Mammography equipment.
- Maintain Viewpoint worksheets and routing
- 20 - 30 technologists located at 3 sites.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
License / Registration / Certification
- Current ARRT Registration for Mammography or Ultrasound or ARDMS for Ultrasound
- Current BLS – Basic Life Support, AED Adult & Pediatric CPR required
- Graduate of accredited Sonography Program
Minimum – Associate’s degree
Years Of Experience
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in ultrasound imaging
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role preferred
