Be You. The Department of Cell Biology is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate position to join a project in the lab of Debby Silver. The Silver lab at Duke University School of Medicine seeks a highly motivated fully funded postdoctoral research fellow to join our lab. Our lab investigates mechanisms by which the brain is assembled during embryonic development, how this is disrupted in neurodevelopmental disease and co-opted during brain evolution. We employ a multifaceted strategy to bridge developmental neurobiology, RNA biology, and evolution. Learn more about our interests, motivations and discoveries: https://sites.duke.edu/silverlab/. Conduct independent research activities under the guidance of a faculty mentor in preparation for a full time academic or research career. Minimum Requirements: PhD in Neurobiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in experimental design and quantitative data analysis Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Principal responsibilities for this position include the following: Designing and performing experiments successfully and collecting and analyzing data related to your research project in the Silver laboratory. Keeping proper records of your experiments and resulting data in a way that is in line with the provided Silver Lab and Duke University standard operating procedures and guidelines. Presenting your data in lab meetings and departmental seminars in an organized, logical manner Demonstrating commitment to training and career advancement Demonstrating intellectual leadership and commitment to your research project(s) in the lab. Demonstrating significant intellectual contribution to other scientific projects within the lab as well as your own. Contributing to the training and advancement of graduate students and other lab personnel Writing fellowship applications as appropriate for the development of your career Choose Duke. This will be a minimum one-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory annual reviews. Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines and applicant experience.
