Richard and Kit Barkhouser Professor of Ophthalmology Professor of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated postdoctoral fellow with a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and a strong background in ocular cell and molecular biology. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in cell and molecular biology techniques, as well as biochemical approaches.
This NIH-funded project focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms that regulate cytoskeletal organization and cell adhesive interactions in the ocular lens, with the goal of understanding their roles in lens growth, architecture, mechanics, and function. The work will involve generating gene-targeted mouse models and characterizing them through histological, biochemical, and molecular analyses. Successful completion of this project is expected to define the role and regulation of actomyosin in the ocular lens.
In addition, the candidate will have opportunities to collaborate and contribute to ongoing glaucoma research within the laboratory.
