Job Description Summary:
The heavy equipment operator position involves operating a variety of pieces of heavy equipment and trucks used within the mine. Primarily the operation of rigid framed, off road, haul trucks hauling overburden (dirt), aggregate to be processed, and finished aggregate to be stockpiled. The operation of other power equipment, such as mechanized broom, excavator, dozer, man-lift, front-end loader and skid steers may be possible in a routine day.
In addition to safely and efficiently operating equipment, staff are required to perform basic maintenance to their respective equipment. In the event of inclement or seasonal weather this position requires the staff member to perform a variety of semiskilled tasks regarding upkeep to facilities and equipment, and performing tasks that require physical labor.
Candidate Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age to apply.
Heavy equipment experience (preferably 1 years.)
Experience operating mining equipment (CAT, KOMATSU, John Deere, etc.)
Experience operating loaders, excavators, haul trucks, water trucks.
Experience working in outside conditions and being exposed to climate (Rain, sun, heat, cold, all seasons.)
Must be open to change, self-motivated, possess a strong work ethic, with an emphasis on safety and awareness, and must be reliable.
Work Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside-weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, and is frequently exposed to dusty, wet, humid, cold, hot conditions, and vibration. When stockpiling material with trucks it is common to safely dump from heights exceeding 40 feet. Most equipment is equipped with cabs, but not all. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. During off season or inclement weather, the position will require tasks involving performing manual labor.
