Theater Technician

Dublin Unified School District
Dublin, CA Part Time
POSTED ON 7/6/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/31/2026

The Center for Performing Arts & Education facility is looking for theater technicians to help run events for the Dublin Unified School District, the City of Dublin, and outside rentals. All experience ranges are welcome. We are a learning facility for students and technicians who want more experience with sophisticated equipment. The position is called an AT WILL/ON CALL technician. This means that we post the schedule of events and open slots for people to sign up when they can work through our Humanity shift planning app. It's a very balanced system, and due to other freelancing jobs, it is incredibly flexible. We never schedule an employee to work. The employee schedules themselves. The rate of pay is determined after a brief interview with the Theater Manager on technical skill sets and general knowledge of being a theater technician ($22 - $32 per hour).

Our facility is twelve years old. Our lighting console is the ETC APEX 5
with ETC LED colorsource cyc, ETC LED colorsource pars as
back and down light, ETC LED Lustr (2 & 3), front light and specials, and ETC LED
colorsource spots for high sides. We have a variety of moving light fixtures from Chauvet Mavericks, Vipers, Axiom, B-Eye K15 Aqua, VariLite VLZ Profiles, etc. We also have an old ION, Nomad, Puck, and Gio @5 from ETC as portable design consoles.

Our main sound console is a Yamaha DM7 with an extension, but we also have the Yamaha CL5, and Midas M32 and M32r digital mixers. We use QLAB, Arkaos Media Master Pro, Resolume, Showcontroller, Beyond, and Madmapper for sound, projections, and Kavant laser. We have two projectors; Christie 7500 lumen lamp-based and Epson 15,000 lumen laser.

We have an intercom everywhere and a Clear-Com FreeSpeak II wireless system for employees only (Agent IQ mobile). Our microphones range from DPA, EarthWorks, Shure, Sennheiser, Rode, Audix, and more. We have 40 wireless body packs for our big musicals (Shure ULXD, Sennheiser G3, & Audio Technica).

The space is equipped with a full fly rail and motorized orchestra lift.

We have done ZFX/FOY flying in the venue three times, and one was automated so
the actor could walk along the wall and upside down across the proscenium (Mary Poppins).

The space is constantly evolving, and we are looking for a few good technicians to help us progress further.

Our new 600-seat venue will be opening at Emerald High School in the fall of 2027. This venue will have automated rigging. Employees will have the opportunity to work at both venues.
