Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, dining areas, offices, and common spaces according to established cleaning schedules.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facility.
• Dust and disinfect furniture, fixtures, windowsills, and frequently touched surfaces.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, mirrors, and other fixtures.
• Empty trash receptacles and properly dispose of waste according to facility procedures.
• Replenish paper products, soap, and other housekeeping supplies as needed.
• Follow established infection prevention and control procedures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
• Use cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and equipment safely and according to manufacturer instructions.
• Follow appropriate procedures when cleaning resident rooms requiring additional infection prevention precautions.
• Maintain housekeeping carts, cleaning tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Properly store cleaning supplies and chemicals in designated areas.
• Report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, safety hazards, or unsanitary conditions to the appropriate department.
• Assist with preparing resident rooms for new admissions and cleaning rooms following discharges or transfers.
• Maintain cleanliness in public areas to create a welcoming environment for residents, families, and visitors.
• Follow facility policies regarding resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Respond professionally and courteously to resident requests and housekeeping concerns.
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff, maintenance personnel, and other departments to support facility operations.
• Follow OSHA guidelines and applicable workplace safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate cleaning records and complete assigned housekeeping tasks in a timely manner.
• Assist with additional cleaning and sanitation projects as needed.
• Perform other housekeeping-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping, janitorial, environmental services, or healthcare cleaning experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience working in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, rehabilitation center, or similar healthcare setting is a plus.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques, sanitation practices, and infection prevention procedures is preferred.
• Ability to safely use cleaning products, chemicals, and housekeeping equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude toward residents and coworkers.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical housekeeping duties throughout the shift.
• Ability to safely lift, move, and handle housekeeping supplies and equipment.
• Must be dependable, punctual, and committed to completing assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to maintain resident privacy and confidentiality.
• Willingness to follow facility policies, infection prevention procedures, and workplace safety guidelines.
• Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a positive attitude.
