Maryville University is seeking a Residential Life Coordinator to help lead and shape our on-campus living communities. In this position, you will support student growth through engaging programming, meaningful connections, and everyday leadership. From mentoring student staff to managing the operations of a vibrant residential community, you will play a central role in creating a place where students feel at home and supported.

What You'll Do

Leadership and Supervision

• Select, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate a Graduate Assistant and Resident Assistants within your assigned area.
• Manage residential areas consisting of 150–550 residents.
• Work with Coordinators, the Graduate Assistant, and the Director of Residential Life to create department goals, training and development, learning outcomes, and assessment plans aligned with the University's vision and strategic plan.

Program Development, Implementation, and Assessment

• Lead and support student programming efforts and assist with program advisement, implementation, marketing strategy, training, and coverage.
• Advise, promote, and attend programs for the Housing Experience (HEX) Programming Board.
• Manage Resident Assistant programming to ensure it reflects departmental values, aligns with Student Affairs wellness initiatives, and meets the needs of the diverse population of residential students.
• Collect program evaluations and attendance data, track engagement in residential spaces, and achieve strategic goals in line with the University mission.
• Execute large-scale campus-wide traditions in partnership with the Center for Student Engagement & Belonging, Athletics, and other campus partners.

Professional Staff On-Call

• Participate in on-call responsibilities, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.
• Assist in contacting/requesting emergency transportation of residential students to health care facilities.

Collective Partnerships

• Work closely with the Center for Student Engagement and Belonging, Athletics, Admissions, and other campus partners on campus-wide initiatives.
• Serve on a variety of committees within the Division of Student Affairs and University community.

Student Conduct

• Enforce University policies and procedures as a conduct hearing officer for designated spaces.
• Collaborate with the Dean of Campus Life on reviewing cases that may involve student bias or Title IX incident reporting.
• Serve as a Residential Life reviewer and liaison for conduct adjudication, consulting regularly with the Director of Residential Life.

Recruitment and Retention

• Support residential students and families with excellent customer service.
• Contribute to enrollment goals by designing programs that support recruitment and retention.
• Participate in New Student Orientation, Admissions visit days, University Scholars Weekend, and other university-wide events.
• Assist with planning and executing campus-wide programs, including orientation and student on-boarding, in collaboration with campus partners.

Building Management

• Oversee opening and closing of residential facilities during University recesses and supervise check-in/check-out operations.
• Coordinate room changes and placements in conjunction with the Director of Residential Life.
• Maintain residential hall records and inventories; manage key issuance/replacement and damage assessment/billing.
• Partner with Facilities staff regarding maintenance issues and building work orders.

Other

• Maintain a high profile and visibility at student programs, athletic events, and campus initiatives, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and times when classes are not in session.
• Attend Student Affairs meetings, trainings, retreats, and planning sessions as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in student development or a related field preferred.
• Knowledge of Student Development Theory.
• High competency in using technology for program and building operations.
• Exemplary skills in program development and implementation.
• Strong commitment to ethnic and cultural diversity.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Supervision experience.
• Current driver's license and ability to obtain certification to drive University vans.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Skills

• A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a college or university setting, preferably Residential Life.
• Experience with event management software, housing software, and conduct software.
• Experience implementing restorative conduct methods to repair and restore communities.
• Certification in Mental Health First Aid.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed response techniques and ability to apply these practices when supporting students in crisis.

Unusual Working Conditions, if any:

This is a 12 month, professional live in position with on-call responsibilities. Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on student and institutional needs, is also required. Basic meal plan is provided to support interaction and community building with students in the dining hall.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $35,000 - $40,000 annually
• • Actual compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market considerations.
