Description
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Perform bibliographical data review for the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) department and enter data in USPTO system according to procedures.
- Operate Madras system to capture required information from application images for entry into Pre-exam, international bib data web as well as POWER systems (must operate this systems simultaneously).
- Use USPTO procedures to mail out national/international applications using the above mentioned systems.
- Quality review all work to ensure that applications are mailed out on the same date that they are processed.
- Work must be performed with high accuracy.
- Provide production, backlog, and error status reports as required.
- Follow established safety, fire and health regulations.
- May be assigned to other areas as necessary to reduce backlog, assist with increased workload or special projects.
- Required to refer Government representatives and inspectors to a more senior level worker in order to resolve questions or problems.
- Must be courteous and respectful to others; will be responsible for keeping work areas neat and clean.
- Backup night shift Customer Service Window (CSW) as needed.
Requirements
MANDATORY:
- One year clerical/administrative experience.
- Experience using MS Windows operating environment and performing data entry.
- Accurate typing skills.
- High school diploma.
- English speaking, reading and excellent written English comprehension.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Attention to detail at all times.
- Two years clerical experience and/or working with legal documents.
- Associates degree.
- Above average proficiency in using a personal computer and various software applications.
- One year experience in USPTO operations.
- A quantity and quality production standard applies to the position.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Twelve week or longer training period provided.
- Position requires a background investigation.
- Manual dexterity is required for standing, stooping, sitting (on chairs & floor when necessary), reaching, climbing, and lifting (up to 15 lbs.) on a daily basis. Eyesight must be correctable to 20/30 in each eye.
