Fiber Deployment Construction Manager

DTG Consulting Solutions, Inc.
El Paso, TX Contractor
POSTED ON 8/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/19/2026

Summary:

The Fiber Deployment Construction Manager oversees fiber-optic construction projects (aerial and underground), ensuring each project is built to design, budget, and schedule requirements. This role primarily supports deployments on U.S. military bases, so familiarity with military installation processes is beneficial. It calls for a professional with strong general contractor (GC) management skills, excellent customer relationship capabilities, and a steadfast commitment to safety compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Manage the full lifecycle of fiber deployment projects from planning through closeout, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and scope.
  • Field Leadership: Lead on-site construction activities by supervising in-house crews and subcontractors/GCs, maintaining quality workmanship and timely progress.
  • Safety Enforcement: Enforce strict adherence to all safety policies and OSHA regulations on site. Proactively identify and address potential hazards to maintain a safe, incident-free work environment.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with customers, military base officials, local authorities, and utility companies to meet project requirements and resolve issues, ensuring stakeholder alignment throughout the project.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Track project milestones, review daily reports, and maintain accurate project documentation (e.g. as-built drawings, change logs) to ensure transparency and control.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Several years of experience in telecom/fiber-optic construction project management, particularly in outside plant (OSP) fiber deployments.
  • Contractor Management: Demonstrated ability to manage construction crews and subcontractors, with a track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong skills in project planning, resource allocation, and budget control. Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of fiber-optic network construction methods and infrastructure (including aerial and underground fiber builds).
  • Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Able to collaborate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams, and convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Safety Focus: Solid understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations; must exemplify a strong commitment to jobsite safety at all times.
  • Military Familiarity (Preferred): Experience working on U.S. military installations or DoD projects is a plus (preferred but not required)

Work Environment:

This position splits time between the office and field. On-site work occurs at outdoor construction locations on military bases, requiring use of appropriate PPE and adherence to base access protocols. Regular travel (approximately 50%) to project sites is expected, and work hours may include occasional evenings or weekends to meet project deadlines. The role demands the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities while upholding the company’s safety and quality standards.
