What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Manager position at DSRT Surf?
DSRT Surf isn’t a traditional workplace—and we’re not looking for a traditional HR Manager.
We’re building a high-energy, experience-driven brand at the intersection of surf, hospitality, and lifestyle. We need a Human Resources leader who can keep pace, build culture from the ground up, and bring structure to a fast-moving, ambitious environment.
This is a fully on-site role in Palm Desert. If you’re looking for remote or hybrid, this isn’t it.
What You’ll Do
You’ll own HR for the operation—end to end. From hiring great people to protecting the business, to shaping the culture that defines DSRT Surf.
- Lead all HR functions: recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and performance management
- Ensure full compliance with California labor laws—no shortcuts
- Build scalable systems, policies, and processes that support growth
- Partner directly with leadership to drive accountability and performance
- Create and maintain a strong, positive, high-performance culture
- Oversee benefits, payroll coordination, and HRIS (Paylocity experience a strong plus)
- Navigate sensitive situations with confidence, discretion, and sound judgment
What You Bring
- 5 years of progressive HR experience (hospitality, lifestyle, or high-volume environments preferred)
- Deep knowledge of California labor laws and HR compliance
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
- Strong presence—you’re confident, decisive, and solutions-oriented
- A builder mindset: you don’t wait for direction, you create structure
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality

Compensation
Compensation is competitive and based on experience, including base salary and total rewards package.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
