Overview:
This role is directly working wit machines, executing tests, guiding mechanics to do machine builds, machine reworks, working with our instrumentation lab to do install additional data acquisition systems and sensors on the machines.
Working with our operators to conduct the tests and follow tests plans and then looking at any data coming off the machines providing that back to the teams that are requesting the data, providing them input and feedback on kind of the test results
1/3 of the time is spent at the desk, working through test planning sitting in meeting and talking through the results. 2/3 of the time be out the machines, either working around them, getting them set up, or riding along with an operator in the cab
Top Skills:
Troubleshooting
Knowledge of various mechanical and electrical systems. Our machines have hydraulic systems, They have got pneumatic systems, they have got engine torque converter transmission system, They have got electric drive train systems. Understanding how those various systems work.
Communication
Education and Experience:
Bachelor with 1-2 years of experience
Masters is ok with some internship experience
No Associates
5 years experience may be overqualified but it not a hard limit
Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- Support test and validation activities on large mining equipment.
- Test validation – validating the functionality of the software; common area – carrying out the requirements; system level testing; large mining truck; working with the mechanics
Typical task breakdown:
- Plan, execute, and document machine level testing.
Interaction with team:
- Daily interaction with engineers, mechanics, operators, instrumentation technicians, supply chain, and logistics.
Team Structure
- 3 team leaders, several senior engineers, and several junior engineers.
Work environment:
- 20% office and 80% on your feet either in the shop or local field.
