A global industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Category Manager - Chemicals to lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies for assigned chemical sub‑categories. This role owns category roadmaps, supplier strategies, cost optimization initiatives, and supply risk mitigation while partnering closely with R&D, Operations, Quality, and global business stakeholders.
- Own global sourcing strategy for assigned chemical sub‑categories, including spend analysis, supplier portfolios, and performance objectives
- Conduct in‑depth market intelligence on chemical feedstocks, cost drivers, production routes, capacity trends, regulatory exposure, and supply risks
- Lead global RFQs and sourcing events, including bid development, evaluation, and award recommendations
- Negotiate commercial agreements to ensure competitive pricing, continuity of supply, and contractual compliance
- Build and maintain chemical cost models and total cost of ownership analyses
- Identify and develop strategic supplier relationships, including performance management and innovation collaboration
- Partner with R&D and business units on substitution, reformulation, and innovation opportunities
- Lead supply risk assessments and develop mitigation plans
- Support sustainability, responsible sourcing, and supplier diversity initiatives
- Deliver regular dashboards summarizing pricing trends, supplier performance, and market risks
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or Supply Chain
- 5 years of experience in chemical sourcing, procurement, category management, or a chemical‑based technical role
- Strong understanding of chemical raw materials, intermediates, polymers, and formulation components
- Proven experience with supplier negotiations, category strategy, and cost modeling
- Ability to translate chemical market data into actionable sourcing strategies
- Advanced analytical skills (Excel, Power BI or similar tools)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across global, cross‑functional teams
- Willingness to work onsite and travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
