Production Manager - Chemical Manufacturing
Overview
A leading chemical manufacturing facility is seeking a Production Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a world‑scale production unit. This role is a key member of the site leadership team and is responsible for driving safety culture, production performance, team development, and operational discipline across a large operations workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations for a major chemical production unit, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, product quality, and reliability.
- Manage and develop a team including a production superintendent, multiple shift supervisors, and 40 operators.
- Set clear expectations for safety performance, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, EHS, and other site functions to optimize plant performance and address operational challenges.
- Develop and manage the annual production budget, track KPIs, and ensure cost‑effective execution of operations.
- Establish and oversee turnaround schedules and coordinate with planning teams to align with site and corporate objectives.
- Manage feedstock usage, monitor supply needs, and coordinate inventory with logistics teams.
- Serve as part of the site incident management team and act as site leadership representative when required.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred).
- 8-10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing operations; experience with ammonia or related processes strongly preferred.
- 5 years of progressive leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of EHS regulations and process safety principles.
- Demonstrated success leading teams in a unionized environment, including conflict resolution and contract interpretation.
- Excellent communication, decision‑making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card and maintain compliance with drug and alcohol testing requirements.
