Role Overview
A well-established industrial manufacturing site is seeking a Process Control Engineer to provide technical leadership and hands-on support for automation, instrumentation, and process control systems in a continuous 24/7 production environment.
In this role, you will design, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve control and safety systems supporting complex chemical or materials-based manufacturing processes. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to improve process reliability, safety, and efficiency.
This position is plant-based and offers exposure to capital projects, system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and day-to-day support for process control, electrical, and safety systems across plant operations
- Troubleshoot control system and instrumentation issues using data-driven root cause analysis
- Support production and maintenance teams to improve uptime, yield, safety, and operating efficiency
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities related to automation and controls
- Lead automation and instrumentation portions of capital projects, including installation, commissioning, and startup
- Ensure projects meet functional requirements, budgets, and schedules
- Develop scopes of work and cost estimates; support contractor selection and manage contractors through project completion
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on multi-discipline mechanical, electrical, and process projects
- Maintain and improve control system documentation, drawings, and standards
- Support adherence to plant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (electrical, chemical, automation, or similar)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing or process-based environment
- Hands-on experience with:
- Industrial PLCs, HMIs, and distributed control systems
- Process instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level, etc.)
- Variable frequency drives and industrial electrical systems
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and modify P&IDs, control narratives, and electrical drawings
- Proven troubleshooting skills in live operating environments
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting chemical, materials, or batch/continuous manufacturing processes
- Exposure to control system migrations or modernization efforts
- Experience managing outside contractors and system integrators
- Familiarity with project execution in regulated industrial environments
Salary : $95,000 - $110,000
