DSJ Global is currently partnered with a global food manufacturer who is looking to add a seasoned Packaging Engineer to lead and support packaging initiatives across a variety of projects for their Loves Park, IL location. This role focuses on optimizing packaging systems, improving sustainability, and enhancing supplier collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead packaging development and improvement projects, focusing on cost reduction, environmental impact, and supplier performance.
- Conduct technical assessments of packaging suppliers and identify opportunities for improvement or risk mitigation.
- Provide hands-on support to production teams and external partners to resolve packaging-related issues and ensure consistent quality.
- Ensure packaging materials and designs meet all applicable regulatory and consumer standards.
- Develop comprehensive packaging documentation, including specifications, drawings, and performance criteria.
- Oversee testing and validation processes for new packaging solutions, including equipment compatibility and production trials.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to align packaging designs with manufacturing capabilities.
- Partner with suppliers to explore new materials and technologies that enhance product performance and reduce costs.
- Lead cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement innovative packaging solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- 3 years of experience in packaging engineering. Experience within CPG or food manufacturing environments is considered a plus.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials such as paperboard, corrugated, flexible films, and rigid containers.
- Experience with automated packaging systems including vertical and horizontal form-fill-seal machines and flow wrappers.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards for packaging, especially those related to food safety and labeling.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
- Professional certifications in packaging or process improvement (e.g., CPP, Lean Six Sigma) are advantageous.
Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
