EPC Sourcing Manager

DSJ Global
Houston, TX Full Time
POSTED ON 6/13/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/11/2026

We are supporting a privately held energy infrastructure developer, owner, and operator on their search for an EPC Sourcing Manager. This role sits on the owner's procurement team and is responsible for leading the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of EPC contracts for large‑scale, capital‑intensive power generation projects, including thermal generation and high voltage substation scopes. The EPC Sourcing Manager will play a critical role in developing procurement strategies, managing complex EPC RFPs, and negotiating commercial terms, while partnering closely with engineering, project management, finance, and legal teams to ensure strong alignment across cost, schedule, and risk throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, negotiation, and execution of EPC contracts for power generation facilities and high voltage substation scopes, representing owner interests throughout the contracting process
  • Develop and manage detailed contract exhibits, including scope of work, technical specifications, performance guarantees, milestone schedules, compensation structures, and insurance requirements
  • Conduct complex commercial and contractual negotiations with EPC contractors, focusing on risk allocation, liquidated damages, warranties, indemnification, and limitation of liability
  • Draft and negotiate Division of Responsibility (DOR) matrices across multi‑contractor environments, clearly defining scope boundaries and interface responsibilities
  • Identify and manage interface risks between EPC contractors, OEMs, and other project stakeholders to eliminate scope gaps and overlaps
  • Lead end‑to‑end EPC RFP/RFQ processes, including contractor prequalification, bid solicitation, proposal clarification, and commercial evaluation
  • Perform bid leveling and normalization to compare contractor proposals across scope, pricing, and schedule considerations
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with project development timelines, construction milestones, and investment objectives
  • Provide early‑stage project support through EPC market intelligence, contractor capacity insights, and cost benchmarking across major construction scopes
  • Maintain awareness of EPC market conditions, contractor availability, and pricing trends for power generation and substation projects
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with development, engineering, project execution, finance, and legal teams to align contract structures with technical and commercial requirements
  • Provide ongoing procurement updates, risk assessments, and cost forecasts to project teams and leadership
  • Support internal governance, audit, and reporting requirements across active capital projects

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance, or a related field
  • 8 years of procurement, sourcing, or commercial experience within capital‑intensive, project‑based industries
  • Direct owner‑side experience negotiating EPC contracts for power generation facilities and/or high voltage substation scopes
  • Demonstrated experience managing EPC RFPs and negotiating complex contract structures
  • Strong understanding of EPC contract frameworks, including risk allocation, LDs, warranties, indemnification, and change management
  • Experience developing and negotiating contract exhibits and Division of Responsibility (DOR) matrices
  • Background in power generation, renewable energy, or energy infrastructure sectors

Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Familiarity with combined cycle, thermal, renewable, and substation scopes
  • Strong commercial acumen balancing cost, risk, and schedule across major EPC packages
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills with EPC contractors
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and procurement packages simultaneously
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
  • Detail‑oriented, proactive, and collaborative
