Role Overview
Our client is a rapidly scaling provider of mission‑critical infrastructure supporting hyperscale data center deployments. As Category Manager, you'll lead end‑to‑end category strategy and execution for construction and capital project spend - driving cost, schedule certainty, and supplier performance in a fast‑paced growth environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Own category management and sourcing strategy for construction services and capital project spend supporting large‑scale, mission‑critical infrastructure builds
- Lead contractor qualification, bid processes, commercial evaluations, and award recommendations across EPCs, general contractors, and key specialty trades
- Negotiate complex EPC, framework, and capacity reservation agreements aligned to aggressive deployment schedules
- Manage end‑to‑end contract execution, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, schedule, safety, and quality requirements
- Develop sourcing strategies that support high‑volume, multi‑site deployment models across multiple regions
- Drive cost competitiveness through competitive sourcing, value engineering, and total cost of ownership analysis
- Partner cross‑functionally with Engineering, Design, Construction, and Operations teams from early design through execution and commissioning
- Identify and mitigate supply chain and commercial risks, particularly around long‑lead equipment and constrained contractor capacity
- Build and maintain strong relationships with EPC firms, contractors, and critical construction suppliers
- Lead supplier performance management, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with regulatory, safety, and contractual standards
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Significant experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, or Construction Procurement within capital‑intensive environments
- Proven background supporting large‑scale, mission‑critical construction projects (hyperscale data centers, energy, utilities, industrial, or similar infrastructure)
- Strong experience negotiating EPC contracts and managing complex commercial and contractual structures
- Solid understanding of construction lifecycles, project controls, and capital budgeting
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience sourcing long‑lead electrical and mechanical equipment (e.g., transformers, switchgear, generators, cooling systems)
- Experience in high‑growth, multi‑site deployment environments
- Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels in fast‑paced programs
- Strong stakeholder influence and leadership skills across global, cross‑functional teams
- Deep understanding of contractor ecosystems and global supply chain dynamics
- Willingness to travel (~20%) to support project sites and supplier engagement
